Welcome to the Parent's Corner!!
I am always excited when a new year begins. I encourage you to please take some time to browse the information on this website. As parents/guardians you play an integral part in your child's success and therefore it is important for you to be aware of what your child is learning and responsible for at any time. I want you to feel free to contact me whenever you need to with any questions or concerns. Email is the best way to reach me and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Parent Teacher Conferences:
All conference nights are from 5:00-8:00pm
For AP Calculus BC Parents/Guardians
This year is the culmination of all the your child's mathematical career. On Tuesday May 9, 2017 they will be taking the AP Calculus BC exam. I am completely committed to helping each student maximize his/her potential in math. Calculus is a very challenging and fast-paced course that requires a sustained level of quality effort and concentration, but at the same time can be fun, interesting, and eye-opening. My ultimate goal is to prepare every student to the fullest extent for the AP Calculus BC exam. By this point we should all realize that mathematics is not a spectator sport. Each student is expected to be well organized in both their academic work and their time. There will be times when they will need to stay after for extra help or for extended review sessions. There will be practice exams given out throughout the year to be completed over school breaks. As we get closer to the day of the exam we will be having additional review sessions after school until 4:00 and on Saturdays. (Exact days and times to be announced). If you have any questions or concerns about this please feel free to contact me at anytime.
For AP Calculus Prep Parents/Guardians
This year we will begin covering topics in preparation for the AP Calculus courses that your children will be taking in their senior year. By this point we should all realize that mathematics is not a spectator sport. Each student is expected to be well organized in both their academic work and their time. In order to be successful in this course students need to be highly engaged in creating an active learning environment in the classroom as well as managing their notes and assignments at home. They will consistently be involved in working through problems that develop their critical thinking skills, hands on activities, discussions, and more advanced mathematical applications. We will have a collaborative classroom format which will allow them to help each other to further their understanding of the topics. The class is completely student-centered and the students needs determine the direction of the lessons. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at anytime.
